What is the Persian Totem Calendar

Jamasp is a system of 32 totems, attributed to the Zoroastrian sage Jamasp and restored in the order of Pavel Globa. The totem is determined not only for the year but also for the month, day, and hour of birth, so the description is not a single word but a set of four levels.

The year is counted from Navruz, i.e., from the spring equinox on March 21, not from January 1. Someone born on March 10 belongs to the previous totem year, and this is the most common mistake when calculating independently.

  • Totem of the year in the 32-year cycle from Nowruz
  • Moon, Sun, and Hour Totems
  • Description of each totem with its strong and weak sides

How it relates to astrology

Totemic calendar is not astrology in the strict sense: it does not rely on planetary positions and is not taken into account in ephemerides. This is a separate symbolic system, in which a 32-year cycle is superimposed on the date of birth.

It's worth reading it alongside the natal chart, rather than instead of it. The alignment of motivations between the totem and the strong planet in the chart can be interesting, but conclusions in disputed matters are made according to the chart.

How to Use Calculations

Enter your date, time, and place of birth: the hour totem requires an exact time just like the ascendant in your natal chart. Without time, only the year and month totems can be correctly determined.

Read all four together. The year's totem describes the overall line, the month's social behavior, the day's daily reactions, and the hour what is visible only to close ones. One totem without others gives too rough a picture.
