What the house governs
The eleventh house is the people to whom a person is bound by neither blood nor contract: friends, communities, colleagues by interest. Its second part is plans and hopes, that is, what a person wants to do together with others or with their support.
How to read it in a chart
Look at the rulers of the eleventh house and the planets in it: they describe which circles accept a person and what they bring into them. Uranus here is about uneven, shifting ties, Saturn about long and structural ones. Aspects show how the circle helps and how it drains.
The axis of the house
The 11-5 axis is ours and mine. The eleventh house invests in the shared, the fifth in its own. A strong eleventh without the fifth gives active participation in other people's plans while one's own is postponed, a strong fifth without the eleventh work without a circle and without support.
Common reading mistakes
The eleventh house is read as a count of friends. It describes the type of ties, not the number of contacts. The second mistake is expecting it to fulfil wishes: it shows what a person plans and with whom, not a guarantee of the outcome.
Houses depend on the exact time of birth: an error of a quarter of an hour shifts the cusps by a few degrees, an error of two hours moves a planet into the neighbouring house. Without a birth time it is correct to read only the planets by sign.
