What is Human Design?

Human Design is a self-knowledge system that combines astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah, and quantum physics. The AstroWay calculator uses Swiss Ephemeris to accurately determine the positions of 13 celestial bodies at two points: at birth and 88 solar degrees before it. The result is a unique Bodygraph with the Type, Strategy, Authority, and Profile defined.

Defined (colored) centers - stable energy. Undefined (white) - openness to the environment. Head, Ajna, Throat, G-center, Heart, Solar Plexus, Spleen, Sacral, Root - each has its own function and wisdom.

36 channels and 64 gates

Bodygraph Components

The body graph is calculated from two moments. The first is the time of birth, it gives the black, conscious gates. The second is the moment when the Sun moves approximately 88 degrees before birth, that is, about 88 days, and it gives the red, unconscious gates.

Planetary longitudes are distributed across 64 gates, each gate occupies 5 degrees 37 minutes 30 seconds of the zodiac and are divided into 6 lines. Activated gates connect nine centers into channels, and it is these specific centers that determine the type.

Four Types and Strategy

Type is determined by which centers are defined and how they relate to the Throat. Generators and Manifesting Generators have the Sacral center defined and make up the majority of the population. Manifestors have the Identity center directly connected to the Throat. Projectors have no defined Sacral center. Reflectors have no centers defined.

Each system assigns its own action strategy: respond, inform, wait for an invitation, wait for a full 29.5-day lunar cycle. The strategy is the main practical statement of the method; everything else is detail.

Authority and Decision-Making

Authority is the center by which the system suggests verifying decisions. The hierarchy is fixed: emotional, sacred, splenic, ego, self-projected, mental, lunar. The highest listed among the identified is taken.

Emotional authority means decisions are not made in the moment: you need to wait for the wave to pass. Spleen authority, on the other hand, acts instantly and does not repeat. This difference defines the entire practical side of working with the chart.

Profile and Cross

The profile consists of two lines: the conscious Sun and the unconscious Sun. Twelve combinations from 1/3 to 6/2 describe the way of interacting with the world, for example, 1/3 is exploration through trial and error, 5/1 is projection of expectations from others.

The Incarnation Cross is formed by the Sun and Earth gates in both calculations, totaling four activations. It sets the overall theme and is considered the most general level of description in the system.

What Sets It Apart

Joint calculation: both systems take planetary longitudes from the same ephemeris. The paths diverge from there, as Human Design rejects signs, houses, and aspects, operating only with the layout by gates and the mechanics of centers.

The system was formulated in 1987 and lacks the verification tradition of classical astrology. It should be read as a separate model, not as a branch of astrology.
