A trine of the Sun: Feeling the support of fate, consider what exactly it is supporting.
This is a very strong aspect. Karma seems to predetermine that the planetary principle will live well, harmoniously, and happily—at least, that is how it appears to a person at a low level of working out the planet and its trine to the Sun. In reality, karma provides the planetary principle with a victorious march on the condition of its development; moreover, human will, when directed toward the planetary principle, easily receives a constructive direction—if the person so desires. If, however, a person wants to use the principle of the planet, then again their will will encounter no resistance. Therefore, one should not think that a Sun trine means the prosperity of the planetary principle; with equal success, it can mean its decay (but still under a beautiful facade) if the person’s will is directed toward predatory consumption and irrational use. In this sense, a Sun–Moon trine is particularly dangerous, especially with a strong Sun, as it allows for too easy use of health in the interests of human will, which in practice most often means the will of one or another rigid egregore.
In general, the interpretation of a trine in general and a Sun trine in particular significantly depends on the level of its development. At a low level, with an egoistic direction of will, a person will soon face the unpleasant effect that external imperative circumstances only superficially and superficially favor the planetary principle, while internally, i.e., essentially, it does not develop but gradually stagnates, and the person becomes hopelessly dull. Conversely, active development of the planetary principle and its growth will find great support from karma, which will seem completely natural to the person but will actually be the result of their volitional efforts, supported by the planet’s trine. Here, it is very important not to stop, since the creatively supportive influence of the trine ends immediately when the person’s constructive volitional effort weakens, turning into predatory, i.e., forcibly extracting harmony from the surrounding environment and giving it to the person, but in a form that is no longer interesting to them. In the spheres governed by the planet, it is dangerous to fight this person: the force supporting harmony around them will show no ceremony with you.
When interpreting this trine, it is also important to pay attention to the relative strength of the Sun and the planet, but here one should be guided not only by the horoscope but also by the specific circumstances of the person’s life. In any case, the person will sincerely believe that their will and initiative in the sphere of the planetary principle are perfect, and it is practically impossible to convince them otherwise.
A trine of Mercury: To make a shallow thought profound, it is not enough to dig a hole for it.
A Mercury trine gives excellent mental abilities and dexterity, as well as luck in transactions in the areas governed by the planet, provided the person applies minimal effort. For example, a Mercury–Mars trine gives the power of speech and thought, quick comprehension, and the ability to complete a great mental task in no time (and sell it profitably), but all this seems too easy to the person at first glance, and if there is no additional interest or obstacle to overcome, they will most likely simply state, “Well, this is all simple and clear,” and not take up the task. A Mercury trine simultaneously gives great superficial abilities—the person grasps things literally on the fly—and laziness and an inner antipathy toward heavy mental work where it can be avoided. The trine saves energy, in this case mental effort, but if it is truly necessary, the person will be capable of feats that they themselves are unlikely to believe possible. A Mercury trine creates strong mental self-deceptions in the areas governed by the planet: the person thinks they understand everything instantly, but in reality their understanding is superficial, and their mental control over the planetary principle is crude and irrational, which they (and those around them) often do not notice; to the person themselves, their thoughts and decisions seem the height of perfection and a model of correctness.
At a low level, Mercury will produce rigid thought patterns that literally crush the planetary principle, but the person will not notice this, since at first glance they seem to be doing everything correctly; if, however, the planet is stronger, it will direct the person’s thoughts in the appropriate direction, while mental self-control will drop almost to zero, which can lead very far, with the person fully convinced that they are thinking and speaking absolutely correctly. Thus, a Mercury–Pluto trine gives an excellent critical mind, but if Pluto is stronger, then at a low level the entire world will appear to the person in black, they will see only vices and crimes in everything (except themselves), and nothing will shake this view; moreover, the person may not be deeply unhappy about this but may even derive a certain satisfaction, finding daily confirmation of their unshakable life position: “The world is no good.”
