Mercury Square Neptune

A square of Mercury: If a thought comes to mind but does not settle into words, it means it was poorly invited. A square of Mercury creates significant difficulties for a person in the interaction between the planet’s principle and rational thinking and speech. Interpretation here depends on which planet in the square is stronger. A square of Neptune: One needs a great deal of inner honesty to recognize a lack of it in oneself. This is a difficult aspect. A square of Neptune distorts meditations, often of a lower order, creates an inexplicable attraction to the planet’s principle while simultaneously providing a very poor understanding of it—or rather, false understanding, illusions, and delusions that the person finds hard to believe and even harder to let go of. In this case, the lower nature can be fueled by very dirty meditations (at the level of alcohol, drugs, family scandals, etc.), and re-educating it will not be easy. A square of Neptune–Saturn can produce a perverse enjoyment of one’s inability to do anything, and the person may live for a long time in a cycle: a brief concentrated effort ending in nothing—a prolonged meditation on their own worthlessness, with a masochistic tinge, likely drawing in close relatives and a psychoanalytic therapist. (In general, a square of higher planets is an aspect of black teachers, in this case with a mystical and psychological slant.) Karmically, this aspect signifies the need to work through the theme of self-deception and lower meditations ("vice") based on the planet’s principle, the inclusion of which makes the corresponding subconscious programs very pronounced. Processing here is complex; it requires abandoning all lower meditations (including sweet self-accusations) and consistent, honest, constructive work in areas related to the planet. Including Pluto and, to some extent, working through Saturn helps. At a high level, the person grasps the subtlest manifestations of the planet’s principle and its connection to the principle of cosmic love as it manifests in external reality and the souls of specific people, which can make them a mystic, preacher, or saint—but the irrational sense of guilt before the world in the planet’s spheres will never leave them.

Their positions are extremely subjective, and their mystical state of mind reaches the point where others simply fail to understand them. However, they themselves almost always understand the motives of others perfectly, primarily due to their ability to unconsciously identify with them. They are able to use this latter ability both for personal gain and for the benefit of others.

The subconscious deceives the conscious, pushing them to make mistakes and causing forgetfulness. This is a consequence of suppressed emotions and feelings. They are often unintentionally indiscreet and may inadvertently let a secret slip. Contact with people and the exchange of thoughts are difficult due to a lack of objectivity, as well as an abstractness and mysticism that others do not understand. However, thanks to their ability to understand people's unconscious impulses, they know their actions and motives in advance. Whether they use this for personal gain or for creative endeavor depends on the overall horoscope. They often have their head in the clouds, but if they want to, these dreams will become reality, as there is a Saturn theme.
