Mercury Opposition Pluto

Mercury opposition: Before you speak, think—will your words insult your own thought? An opposition to Mercury poses the problem of the relationship between the planet’s principle and rational thinking. One should not assume that a strong Mercury in the nativity grants intelligence—the latter is determined more by the general evolutionary level, while Mercury’s influence depends on its integration rather than aspects. At a low level of integration, dominant Mercury suppresses the planetary principle with mental clichés, profaning and grotesquely distorting it. This continues until the Moon decisively shifts the main emphasis in the opposition, fully overriding Mercury—or rather, subjugating it—allowing only those thoughts the Moon itself generates to enter the mind. The person then becomes trapped, for instance, in obsessive thoughts about food or primitive but sweet sex, sharply lowering the evolutionary level of their behavior or leading to severe frustration, neuroses, or depression. Here, integration proceeds by clarifying the role of thought in the expression of the planetary principle, which should be guided by thought in general but not controlled in every detail, let alone replaced by crude mental schemas. On the other hand, thought can also assist in developing new directions and materializing the planetary principle—it should not become its obedient servant, a fact the individual will repeatedly realize when untangling the inconceivable chaos that arises after a prolonged period of the planetary principle dominating over Mercurial influence. At a high level, the planetary principle gains a stable channel into the mental plane, and the thoughts that arise are precisely those needed to develop the planetary principle. This feeling of thought and language being obedient cannot be mistaken for anything else; in relevant situations, it provides an absolute sense of self-confidence (others begin to speak of an obvious and indisputable strength of talent, though it would be more accurate to say it reflects the stability of a well-integrated opposition). Pluto opposition: Good becomes soiled in the struggle against evil. In general, a major aspect of Pluto karmically tunes the planet to a program of purification—often painful, but, above all, irreversible losses. At a low level, the opposition pits the planet’s principle against Pluto’s purifying actions; the person perceives these as destructive aggression directed at them (in the areas governed by the planet) and attempts to resist. In such cases, they clearly emphasize the planet, and Pluto appears to them as an external fate striking (of course) an innocent person with destructive blows, always in the same place (the planet’s principle or the house where it resides). The person may grumble (quietly), protest (loudly), or fight (desperately), but it is better for them to surrender and, above all, understand that Pluto is not aiming to destroy the planetary principle itself (in a Pluto–Moon opposition, the person may feel that fate simply wants to annihilate them along with their family, and not all at once, but in the most agonizing way), but rather its lower octave—the one from which the person subconsciously finds it hardest to part. Here, integration proceeds primarily by cultivating humility and eradicating within oneself the primitive craving for absolute control over the manifestations of the planetary principle in the surrounding world, as well as the desire to reshape others, ruthlessly eradicating everything repulsive and unworthy (for example, a Pluto–Venus opposition fosters a drive for absolute control over people, especially the object of love; a Pluto–Mercury opposition fosters a drive for control over minds and movements of people—not the kind of power that ascends through the higher octave of the 9th house, but “so they won’t dare speak or even think what is not permitted!”). The person must realize that their planetary principle can only be constructively used in outer life after undergoing thorough Plutonic purification within themselves, for which they will have to make no small number of external and internal sacrifices. At a high level, the person gains the ability to develop the planetary principle to its highest potential and participate in large-scale karmic programs.

These people have a sharp tongue and like to call things by their proper names, which often leads to numerous conflicts and clashes. When they choose, they can demonstrate remarkable sensitivity to the point of view of others, displaying rare tact and diplomacy. However, this desire arises only rarely. More often, they strive to convert everyone around them to their own ideas. Such people rarely experience a happy state of mental balance. They typically vacillate between blind devotion and utter despondency, between grumbling and complaining and scandalous protests. They often take unnecessary risks and, in pursuit of innovation, engage in unthinkable adventures. Such people often excel in medicine, the natural sciences, and psychology, and prove successful investigators. They are often stubborn, impatient, irritable, vindictive, and revolutionary. They often exhibit a penchant for deception and intrigue, and their actions are sometimes motivated by irrational reasons. Their fate is full of twists, turns, and turns, and their nervous system sometimes can't withstand the strain they place on it. This aspect helps them delve into the essence of any issue and grasp any situation with insight. Such people express their opinions directly and openly, are spontaneous in their intellectual reactions, and are blunt and stern in their statements and thoughts. Overly suspicious, they love to intrigue and unravel conspiracies. Such individuals often try to influence the thoughts of others for destructive purposes. They energetically implement all their ideas and plans.

The opposition, square: aspects of a "magician who doesn't know his stuff," who tries to conquer what's beyond his grasp. He uses his mind to influence people or to rip off the veil of secrecy from things that shouldn't be talked about, with the sole purpose of shocking those around him. His subconscious and passion for conclusions sometimes come into conflict, and he strives to repress, overcome his subconscious in order to make categorical judgments. In the best case, he has a slightly twisted sense of humor.

Your opposition to others' "getting personal" with you is loud and clear and may be the source of more than a little argument.
