You require safe release, as it is in the release of orgasm that you begin to relax and drop your defenses. You can live and work with partners who provide little or no external security, but when it comes to sexual union, security must exist. The trap is emotional dependence on the beloved. You are drawn to them by the need for release, so be careful not to “cling” to your partner like a child clings to its mother. And equally, do not foster dependence in your beloved. Let needs be met, but do not get hooked. The task is to experience the full rich spectrum of emotions that arise in sexual relationships; cultivate mutually relaxing connections. Focused intuition. Such an explosion, however, requires a special predisposition—for example, the Moon in Aries aspected by an opposition or a pair of squares. A harmoniously aspected Moon (blue and green aspects) in the 8th house can lead to escapism—withdrawal from life through alcohol, drugs, and the like—which is very difficult to overcome. To rise above the negative consequences of this position requires heightened self-awareness and, consequently, intense work. The person needs courage to re-examine all the rules that have governed their life until now and stirred turmoil in the subconscious. Once they do this, they can later use these rules consciously, controlling the situation. This outcome is quite achievable if we learn to observe ourselves honestly and with sufficient detachment, as well as resist social pressures. The 8th house is the house of prejudices, especially in connection with Mars and even more so with the Moon.

Death does not adorn the last homeland. The Moon in the 8th house is in symbolic fall. Nevertheless, with a harmonious Moon, a person is psychologically and physiologically well adapted to overloads, stresses, changes in lifestyle and its main circumstances: marital status, work, place of residence. With harmonious aspects to the 8th house and the chart as a whole, all this may be limited to quite social frameworks, but with the Moon afflicted, irrational phobias, a strong (sometimes very overt) death instinct, a tendency to destroy one’s health, and at the same time some unnatural egoism are likely. All this intensifies and leads to inner crises during significant changes, which the person both fears and secretly desires, hoping that they will entertain him (which often happens) and resolve internal and external problems (which is unlikely, at least without much self-work). This person is intimately connected with a group and its internal problems, which affect him more than he thinks. He needs to understand that most of his emotions and feelings are imposed by society or his own lower subconscious programs, and that his emotional states and meditations have a strong magical impact on the world and on himself in particular—his emotions of hatred and destructive desires manifest both externally and within him.
